Starter Projects & Ideas

Low-stress, real-life ways to try AI — one small project at a time.

How to use this page

These starter projects are designed for beginners and seniors who want to try AI without pressure. Each idea is small, practical, and meant to fit into everyday life — not a big class or course.

  • Pick one project that feels useful this week.
  • Follow the simple prompts in your own words — no fancy tech language needed.
  • Write down your favorite prompts in your AI Wins Journal or AI Wins Tracker so you can reuse them later.

If a project feels like too much, you can shorten it, skip a step, or come back to it later. The goal is to build confidence with small wins, not to do everything at once.

Everyday communication

Email Tune-Up

Use AI to help you clean up one email or message this week so it sounds calm, clear, and kind.

Good for: notes to family, questions to a doctor’s office, messages to a neighbor, or simple work emails.

  • Copy a message you’ve written (or type a rough draft).
  • Ask: “Please rewrite this to sound clear, friendly, and respectful.”
  • If needed, follow up with: “Make it a little shorter.” or “Use simpler wording.”

You stay in charge: always read the suggestion and adjust it so it still sounds like you before sending.

Lists & planning

Chores & Errands Helper

Turn a messy list of chores or errands into a simple plan you can actually follow.

  • Type a quick list: “groceries, pharmacy, bank, call insurance, laundry, trash”.
  • Ask: “Please group these into a simple checklist with a sensible order for my day.”
  • Optionally add: “Highlight what absolutely must be done today and what can wait.”

You can reuse this pattern each week. Just paste a new list, and ask AI to sort and group it for you.

Health & information

Question Prep for Appointments

Use AI to help you organize questions for a doctor, advisor, or service provider.

  • Type a short note about the situation in plain English.
  • Ask: “Based on this, please suggest 5–7 questions I might want to ask at my appointment.”
  • Delete anything that doesn’t fit and add your own.

Remember: don’t share account numbers, ID numbers, or very private details. AI is a helper for organizing your thoughts — not a replacement for a professional.

Learning & hobbies

Learn One New Thing

Pick one topic you’re curious about and let AI give you a calm, beginner-level overview.

  • Ask: “Explain this topic to me like a beginner who is not very technical: [topic].”
  • Then: “Give me 3 very simple real-life examples of how this might show up in everyday life.”
  • If it feels confusing, say: “Please try again using shorter sentences and plainer language.”

You can repeat this project with hobbies, news stories, or everyday questions you’d like help understanding.
